SRC General Election 2021

Welcome to the 2021 SRC General Election page where you can view all candidates for each position below. Voting opens at 12:01am on Monday, February 22nd and closes on Friday, February 26th at 11:59pm. To vote, login into to your e-services account, click on the voting tab at the top, select ‘SRC Election Feb 2021’ from the options on the left-hand side menu, select your candidates, and then submit! It is simple, quick, and determines the leadership of your student union. We encourage all students to review the platforms of each candidate located in their bios below and on their respective social media accounts before voting.

My name is Charlotte Fanjoy and I am your current Vice-President External with the UNB-SRC. As my term is coming to an end, I recognize there is still a lot to be done. I have learned so much within my past 8 months as VP External, and I hope to continue learning and advocating as your next UNB-SRC President. 

If you vote Charlotte Fanjoy, you will receive a support system that advocates for equality and fairness, for ALL UNBSJ undergraduate and DMNB Students. I promise to improve accessibility, sustainability, and Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (EDI) within the SRC and for students.

My name is Adam Lambert, I will be running this year for VP External. I have taken up an interest in politics and would like to be a strong candidate to help the school improve. We already have such a great campus and with my campaign, the school is in my best interest. A few personal things about myself, I am in the BBA co-op program currently on my first work term. I also play on the UNBSJ Men’s Basketball Team. Sports have always been a passion of mine, but I want to direct some of that energy in making the school a better place for all.

Tanya Paterson holds a Bachelor of psychology degree and is currently in her fourth year Bachelor of Art/Education concurrent program student with a major in English at UNB Saint John.  Tanya has held various leadership roles at UNB Saint John such as leading Learning Communities, creating and delivering the “Ready, Set, UNB Saint John” program, as well the Winter 2020-2021Orientation for new incoming students.  Tanya has held volunteer positions at SOAR Orientation, Faculty of Arts Advising sessions and with Promise Partnership.  Tanya has extensive work experience working as a tutor, fitness instructor, the owner of her own business. In addition, Tanya brings a wealth of experience as a working mother of four children.  This allows her to bring skills of management, leadership, and organization to the position of Mature Student Counsellor with the UNB Saint John’s SRC.

Niomi Monteiro is a 3rd-year Business Administration co-op student. She joined UNB Saint John in January 2019 from Mumbai, India and has been part of various leadership roles ever since including playing roles of:

⁃ the International Representative on the Residence Council at the University Residence,

⁃ a Resident Assistant during the 2019 Christmas break at the Residence,

⁃ a member of the SRC Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee,

⁃ a student advisor on the SRC President’s Advisory Committee,

⁃ a student advisor on UNB’s Student Services Director’s Advisory Group,

⁃ a teaching assistant, mentor, and tutor for various courses, among others.

With myriad experiences horning her skill set over these past few years, including strong leadership and communication skills that are required for the position of the International Student Councillor on the UNB Student Representative Council, Niomi hopes to build strong relations with international students at the university and articulate their needs at the university level for affirmative action.

Hi, my name is Clara Kelly, and I am hoping to be re-elected for the position of Nursing and Health Sciences Representative on the SRC! I am currently in my second year of my Bachelor of Nursing degree. I am so thankful to have found something I am truly passionate about. Re-electing me will allow your voices to be heard and you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts and concerns in decisions that are made by the SRC. Candidate for SRC Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Councillor

Arkk Sahay is a 2nd-year Bachelor of Arts Co-op student, majoring in Communications. He started his undergraduate studies at UNB Saint John in September 2019 after moving from Delhi, India. A keen believer in helping his peers by taking up the role of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Councillor, he hopes to promote and advance equity, diversity, and inclusion, focusing on issues faced by students on matters such as accessibility, racism, and discrimination. Through this, he will act as a liaison between students and the university to ensure students’ voices are heard and help is provided when needed. His experience with coordinating various high school events, charities and leading teams at other organizations have helped him develop various skills like leadership, interpersonal and communication skills which will assist in providing support to the students at the university.
